The Horse of the Year Show was first held in 1949 and has grown year on year to encompass a wide array of equestrian events and disciplines; including
- National and International Show Jumping
- Showing Championships
- Mounted Games
- The Prince Philip Cup
- The Double Harness Scurry
- The Dressage Future Elite Championship
- A wide variety of Equestrian Displays
Competitors must qualify to compete at HOYS. In order to enter the a qualifying class both rider and horse must be registered with the relevant equestrian society or association.
As well as equestrian events HOYS also features a large retail section and shopping only tickets are available for the first two or three days of the show.
HOYS was an annual feature at Wembley Arena for over 40 years.
Then in 2002 the Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) moved from Wembley Arena to the Birmingham NEC were it has been staged for 13 years.
Qualifying and Competing at the Horse of the Year Show is widely regarded as the pinnacle of achievement in the equestrian world.
It is a goal to which all competitive horse owners and riders aspire and is known as “The Worlds Most Famous Horse Show“
