Chelmsford Equestrian Centre (CEC) is one of the longest established riding schools and livery yards in Essex

We are a British Horse Society (BHS) approved and an Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) approved riding school. CEC serves local riders clients from Chelmsford, Writtle, Sandon, Maldon, Danbury, Ingatestone, Billericay, Wickford, Braintree, Kelvedon, Tiptree and Brentwood.

The equestrian centre is walking distance of Chelmsford city centre, and offers both riding tuition and livery yard facilities.

CEC is situated on over 72 acres of rolling Essex countryside, which includes a cross country course and riding arenas with new surfaces.

The indoor arena is used mainly for the kids lessons and for beginner riders.

Riding Lessons at Chelmsford Equestrian Centre
We offer a full range of private and group riding lessons for everyone from Tiny Tots to advanced riders. Our minimum age is 4 years.

If you are an experienced rider, or a rider returning to the saddle, we do require that you have a private assessment lesson before joining any of our Riding Groups

CEC is open seven days per week excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day for

Mini Own-A-Pony: an ideal event for children riding in our lead-rein lessons
Own-A-Pony: for children riding at pre-novice level (J1) and above
2 and 3 Day Pony Riding Improver Courses: Suitable for riders at LR2, J1 and J2 levels
Pony Games and Pizza: Open to riders at J3 level and above
Clear Round: Open to novice-plus riders, J3 level and above
ABRS (Association of British Riding Schools) Rosette Award Training: Normally takes place over 2 or 3 afternoons
Summer 3-Day Pony Rally: Open to riders at J2 level and above
Summer 3-Day Pony Camp with Sleepover and Bar-B-Q: Open to clients riding at J3 level and above
Cross-Country Training Clinics with Juliet Cottey, BHS II: An opportunity to improve your cross-country riding skills over our new permanent jumps
Own-A-Horse Adult sessions: Purely for adults to learn more about caring for horses
Unaffiliated Dressage Events: Normally held on Mondays either during the day in school holidays or after 5pm at other times throughout the year
