If you don't have your own horse or pony Ayrshire Riding Clubs are the best starting point for children or adults who want to learn to ride.

Ayr Riding clubs organise local equestrian competitions and events, working rallies and other activities, which usually take place at times best suited to their membership. Inter-club competitions are always popular and members can get together to share transport and/or travel costs to more distant competitions. Ayrshire Riding clubs are definitely the best option if you really want to enjoy horse riding.

Based in North ayrshire we hold most of our events and horse training at EGLINTON COUNTRY PARK, Irvine. We hold 2 major shows each year, Spring and Summer where we have In-hand showing, ridden classes and showjumping. Facilities include a cross country course, an all weather arena. Showjumping is held once a month throughout the summer. We intend holding dressage competitions and a TREC competition.

We are not the largest riding club in Scotland but we must be one of the most active and we believe, one of the friendliest. Most of our members ride regularly and many compete - currently we are mostly 'eventers' plus a number of dressage enthusiasts. We hold open competitions in dressage and show jumping and also smaller ones for members only. We try to put teams together wherever possible to go to competitions held by other clubs and to the Area competitions. You don't have to wait until you are the great and the good with Kilmacolm Riding Club - if we can get 4 people who want to go, we'll enter a team. This approach seems to have paid off with a lot of people having a lot of fun and a surprisingly large haul of rosettes over the years for quite a small club
